A sneaky peak of my latest portrait. Sarka is a girl I met one winters morn while on Brick Lane. The winters low sun was loving her colourful outfit. Thanks to Sarka for sparing a few minutes to allow me to capture the moment. Still loads to finish up including that rather complex scarf.

So saw the Taylor Wessing portrait show and to be honest was a bit ho hum...maybe it was the crowds or icy day...actually there was some great stuff including the Peter Crouch photo, it was kinda sad, but a great and beautiful portrait.
So afterwards decided to visit the Dale Chihuly show at the Halcyon gallery (till 31st of March). Just love his stuff and this was a top notch collection of his glass art and related paintings. It was candy for the eyes and very seductive. A fantasy of colour and shape and very ephermeral. I desire his stuff...if only I had a few ten thousand pounds to spend. http://www.halycongallerycom Can't wait to see the Taylor Wessing portrait show this Sunday...looking forward to going with one of my
sitters Marie-Louise. Check out the painting of her I did in 2009. Also the last few days for the Mystery of Appearance show at the Haunch of Venison...went on Thursday (before the snowstorm). Must admit that I was slightly disappointed due to the overall quality and content...is that being controversial?? A great reclining nude by Frank Auerbach and a Freud portrait to delight and ponder. Just saw the Leonardo Da Vinci show at the National Gallery. It is the most complete exhibit of his few remaining paintings plus some thrilling drawings and studies. The portraits in room two are worth the trip alone, they are suprisingly modern looking and capture the "emotion of the mind". If you want to go you had better get your skates on, the show closes on Feb the 5th.
