2nd August-26th September 2012
As London presents the coveted 2012 Olympic games, athletes from all over the world have trained for one of the largest summer events of the year.
DegreeArt's Execution Room will be celebrating the London Olympics by putting on a very special exhibition. TWENTY Team GB athletes have been selected by TWELVE of DegreeArt's most distinguished artists who have come together to create twenty original pieces of art that celebrate the British athletes and the spirit of this historical event.
Each artist in the 20:12 collective has chosen an athlete or aspect of the games as their muse and has created bespoke pieces that are to become historical punctuations in their artistic aesthetic, the athlete and the games as a whole.
Through creating these special pieces, DegreeArt’s artists have built up relationships with the athletes they have individually worked with, and many of them have had the opportunity to complete traditional sittings, or have endorsed photographs that the artists used as inspiration for the portraits.
The 20:12 Collective is comprised of DegreeArt Artists: Victoria Heald, Nick Lord, Anika Manuel, Hannah Hopkins, Abigail Box, John Williams, Patrick Simkins, Johan Andersson, Michael English, Rebecca Molloy, Helen Gorrill, and Edward Sutcliffe.
The 20:12 Exhibition will run from 2nd August – 26th
September 2012 and will be held at
DegreeArt's Execution Room, 12a Vyner
Street, London, E2 9DG.
