Shall deliver two of my works to the arts hub that is the Arts Depot in north London. They have selected Haru in Wonderland and Brick Lane Girl to show in their annual multi-media open exhibition. Great start to the day!
Yes it's that time again. Paid a visit to Riverbourne Fine Art to drop off four paintings that require framing. Fun fact...Ashley the proprietor is a direct decendant of the sculptor who made the 18 foot statue of Admiral Nelson which stands proudly atop Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square. How cool is that?! Ashley taking some measurments Checking out the wood for the frame before it is cut to size. RiverbourneFineArt.co.uk. Cant wait to see the finished frames.
Have been putting the finishing touches on my latest portrait. Time to get the ol' notebook out, have a good look and list the corrections. My handwritting skills seem to have left the building. Anyway keep an eye out for the finished piece very soon...
Happy to have completed this painting of a hanging
orange. View the larger image on the still life page. It is the 2nd in a series of entwined fruits. Painting fruit is traditionally depicted on a table or flat surface. A bit of fun for me...can't wait to paint some delicious exotic fruits next. Putting up a sneak preview of the current portrait in progress and it's no other then Edward Lucie-Smith. A couple of shots, one of the sitting, and one of easel in the studio. Check back for the completed portrait.
Very excited!!! Extreme news!!! Recently had a great filming and photo day with Edward Lucie - Smith, the renowned author, art critic and photographer. He has agreed to be the subject of my next portrait. So grateful that the opportunity has come my way and that he generously spent the afternoon entertaining us. I took hundreds of photos for the painting and Nick (on right in photo) captured the whole thing on film. The edited video will be available for all to see and will be part of a new electronic interactive book about my work. The book is due out early next year and the painting is progressing well.
Had dinner and a chit chat this week with non other than the legendary arts critic, artist and author Edward Lucie-Smith. Can say that the evening was a complete, over the top, pleasure for me, it was a bit like watching a film of your life.
Watch this space for what could be further developments. What could that be?? The photo is of him showing me the possibilities of an iBook... Had a stunning meal at The Brasserie Zedel in Picadilly then strolled down to the artists party for the final Cork Street Open Exhibition. It was an incredible mix of artists and an amazing collection of contemporary artwork. The exhibition is open for two more days so be sure to get there if possible. Its open: Thursday the 15th from 10am - 8pm and Friday from 10am-6pm. You won't be disappointed by the impressive selection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, prints, digital art and mixed media. http://corkstreetopenexhibition.com The crowd and gallery. My painting as displayed....very happy to have been included in the last ever show. Thanks to Kathryn, Rodney and the team. Over the years you have made an important contribution to Londons vibrant Cork Street arts hub and also for the artists involved in your shows. The best part was that everything was in aid of the selected youth charities...job well done!!
